World Social TV - the idea
The global movement needs its own co-operative global television station, Daniela Dahn at the WSF in January 2007 in Nairobi

If ist doesn't exist in the media, it doesn't exist. Most people form their opinion by looking tv. But hardly any television camera wanders into the favelas of Rio, the slums of Calcutta, the hungry children in Kinshasa or Luanda, into the miserable USA reservations of Indians, or views the soup kitchens of Marseille and homeless of Berlin, the victims of gold mines in Papua-New Guinea, the families of the murdered leaders of the Brazilian landless movement, the crippled victims of land mines and the cities and villages destroyed by war. The anti-globalization movement buildes rightly on internet communication. But more than 90% of the world's population is still excluded from it. In the age of media, the left cannot permanently remain networked, beyond its greatest effectiveness. In order to communicate to the poor, the marginalized, the illiterate a consciousness of their common interests, prominent artists, journalists, and representatives of social movements propose the step-by-step creation of an enlightening world television station beyond the interests of profit.
